Abstract:

The U.S. Army Mobility Equipment Research and Development Center USAMERDC has developed a computer program for use in assessing the effectiveness of a track width mine clearing plow moving through an area containing mixed mine typesfuze mechanisms. This program includes important modifications and extensions of some of the methods currently used for obtaining countermeasure-minefield effectiveness criteria and yields statistical information that cannot be determined from other existing models. The approach to this problem makes use of a Monte Carlo computer simulation technique developed at the USAMERDC. Because of a need to investigate current and future threats for ascertaining mine-target interactions within a minefield, the computer program has been written in such a way that the only additional coding required is the so-called threat subroutine, against which the countermeasure effectiveness of the target can be determined.
