Real Gas and Wall Roughness Effects on the Bifurcation of the Shock Reflected from the End Wall of a Tube,

Several aspects of the interaction between the boundary layer on the shock tube side wall and the shock reflected from the end wall were investigated experimentally in the free piston shock tube T3. The experiments were conduted at sufficiently high shock speed to produce vibrational excitation and dissociation in the case of nitrogen and carbon dioxide, while the experiments in argon were restricted to the ideal gas range.
