Ice Lifter Marine Structure.
DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY WASHINGTON DC
Pagination or Media Count:
An ice-breaking marine structure capable of reducing ice forces imposed on the structure wherein the structure is substantially vertical and has inclined flights on each side which cause impinging ice sheets to fail in flexure. The flights are inclined upward at an angle to the horizontal to minimize the ice force on the structure. The flight surfaces extend upward from the front surface to intersect the top surface resulting in less mass on the side walls of the breaking marine structure.
