Described is a method for preventing the escape of liquid nitrogen and nitrogen gas from an apparatus for treating materials with high energy ionizing radiation while the materials are being maintained at temperatures below about -40 C. with liquid nitrogen. Used is a packaging made of filaments of poly p-phenylene terephthalamide at the joints in the liquid nitrogen conduit. Author
