System for Releasably Connecting Blades to Rotor.

Pagination or Media Count:
The system includes a rotor having a radially extending, dovetail-like shaped groove along its periphery, and a single loadingunloading slot that is transverse to, and interrupts, the peripheral groove a plurality of identical turbine-like blades, with each blade having a root or foot portion in a dovetail-like shape that is complementary to the shape of the peripheral groove and, means for releasably connecting the blades to the rotor. This means includes a tool having an invented V-shaped cut-out portion, and a U-shaped spring that is compressable to a dovetail-like shape that is complementary to the dovetail-like shape of the peripheral groove with, and by the use of, the tool. The spring, when it is in its normal U-shape and is in the loading slot, holds the blades in circumferentially-spaced positions along the periphery of the rotor. When the spring is in its compressed dovetail-like shape and is in the peripheral groove, it permits the loading and the unloading of the blades of the rotor. Author
