The magnetic field established by a current carrying coil of wire is altered, or modified, by the passage through it of a metallic electrically conductive projectile. This change in the magnetic field is sensed by another coil concentrically wound with the field establishing coil. A single dual coil assembly is used to determine burst fire rates, two dual coil assemblies, a determined distance apart, provide time interval pulses representative of projectile velocity. A conventional chronograph or conventional electronic counter providing an output indication of events per unit of time and time interval durations is used to provide a read out indication of projectile bursts rates and velocity measurements.
