Abstract:
The invention is a parallel-plate high-frequency lens-antenna incorporating a plurality of dipole elements attached around the antenna plates and arranged so as to change the direction of polarization of propagating TEM electromagnetic energy from normal to the lens plane when the energy is confined between the parallel plates to parallel to the lens plane upon radiation. Lenses of this type are especially useful in producing a radar beam having a beamwidth narrow in azimuth but large in elevation.
