Abstract:
The patent discloses a system of coating prostheses with ground bone particles. Prostheses made of various metals and other substances are coated using rf sputtering techniques to form a film which adheres to the device, stimulates living bone attachment thereto and which is ultimately replaced by new bone. Beef cattle bone material, some ground to 125 mesh and the remainder in chunks, has been successfully used in one embodiment as the coating applied by the rf sputtering process.
