Abstract:
The patent describes a spiral scan generator which utilizes a read-only memory having stored therein a sequence of binary signals representing the plus or minus delta X and plus or minus delta Y values obtained by calculating the positional changes required to move from one end to the other along a particular spiral path. The binary signals are converted to a corresponding number of pulses which define intermediate locations, and these pulses are fed to up and down counters whose recorded counts are converted into analog voltages for controlling, for example, a directional antenna. By reversing the direction of memory read-out and by selectively changing the sign of the delta X values, additional spirals of similar shape are formed.
