Abstract:
The patent describes a moving target indicator for detecting movement of targets deeply imbedded in clutter noise. The system uses the Doppler phenomenon to generate a signal that is a function of the relative velocity between the transmitter and the target. Another signal is simultaneously generated that is also a function of the relative velocity but has its phase shifted a fixed amount. The two signals are fed to a correlator which will produce a voltage that is proportional to the velocity of the target and whose polarity is dependent on the direction of the velocity of the target with respect to the target indicator system.
