Abstract:

The proposed program of rocket-sonde research in the upper atmosphere is described. The rocket development programs are discussed and a detailed description is given of the Neptune, the Naval Research Laboratorys new high altitude research rocket. A review of the ionization experiments conducted with the V-2 is presented, and proposals for future research in this field are outlined.
