Abstract:
Purpose of investigation was to determine the effect of carefully developed nose-inlet openings on the external drag and critical compressibility speed of a streamline body for a wide range of rates of air inlet. Pressure distribution and boundary-layer data were obtained and correlated. Individual openings and practicable combinations of inlet and outlet openings were tested and various modifications of internal duct shape near inlet opening were studied. Apparatus and wind-tunnel test methods have been briefly described and results are evaluated.
