Abstract:
Strength, occurrence of defects, and effect of angle of rivet head were determined. Specimens represent combinations of structural members frequently joined by flush rivets and were designed to afford comparison between different types of rivets and riveting processes. Lead-slippage curves were plotted for all shearing specimens. Countersunk-head rivet extending practically through second sheet is believed helpful to slippage where head angle is 115 deg. Tensile strength was computed by dividing breaking load by nominal cross-sectional area of rivet.
