This office report has been prepared to present basic hydrologic data and criteria for use in feasibility studies for possible water resources development in the Kern River Basin. This report discusses the hydrologic characteristics of the area, presents an analysis of flow-frequencies, reservoir sedimentation, and freeboard requirements, and describes the development of standard project and probable maximum floods resulting from winter-type rain storms. An analysis of spring snowmelt floods is not required for this study. The primary emphasis in this report is on the Kern River at Isabella Lake however, basic criteria is presented that could be used to develop hydrologic data for other locations in the basin.
