Abstract:

The primary purpose of this study is to increase annual return rates for screening mammography among asymptomatic women aged 50 and older. Specific project objectives include a To develop an intervention aimed at promoting return mammogram adherence within 12-14 months following the last mammogram. The intervention will consist of an appointment reminder letter. b To refine and standardize a comparison reminder letter. c To implement and monitor the proposed interventions at six mammography facilities in San Diego, California. d To evaluate the effectiveness of the primary care physicians letter. A secondary purpose is to increase the understanding of the factors that influence interval adherence to mammography.
