This report utilizes CHAMPUS Fiscal Year FY data for U.S. Army beneficiaries living within 20 and 40 mile radii of eight designated U.S. Army Health Clinic areas. Patient beneficiaries were selected by home zip codes matching distinct zip codes associated with each clinic area and designated radius in miles from the clinic see Appendix E. For seven of the clinic sites, the report analyzes costs and workload factors for ICD-9-CM diagnoses in three types of services patient hospitalizations Appendix A, Inpatient professional services Appendix B, and ambulatory professional services Appendix C. Each appendix contains four sets of tables, each set presenting one table per clinic area. The first group of tables lists for each clinic the ICD-9-CM diagnoses ranked as the top twenty-five in total government payments for beneficiaries within a 20 mile radius of the clinic. This set of summaries is followed by tables listing the top government payment diagnoses within a 40 mile radius of each clinic. The final two groups of summaries per appendix list, by clinic, top diagnoses ranked by workload factor dispositions for patient hospitalizations, number of services for professional services within a 20 mile radius and then within a 40 mile radius. Non-highest diagnoses for each category of table were summed into a group called Other and printed at each reports end. Appendix D contains data for St. Louis only, present radius tables like those generated for Appendices A-C.
