Abstract:

This Technical Note describes the four operational meteorological satellite systems that provide metsat data to Air Force units in the Pacific theater. It describes Air Force DMSP Direct Readout Site and mini-SIDS location operations and provides considerable background information on Metsat imagery characteristics. Such topics as image accuracy, gridding, imagery types and forms, geographic coverage picture resolutions, data frequency and image identification techniques and imagery analysis procedures.
