Abstract:

The Super Small-Scale Cookoff Bomb SSCB, like the Small-Scale Cookoff Bomb SCB, was developed to provide a means for predicting the response of an ordnance item to a fast or slow cookoff by comparing an empirical relationship to the severity of cookoff reaction in a laboratory level explosive sample and the same explosive in an ordnance item during a field test. Whereas the SCB utilizes 600 grams, the SSCB requires only 20 grams. The SSCB will test any explosive whose critical diameter for steady-state detonation is less than 0.6 inch.
