Abstract:

This Final Report describes results of the Computer-Based Information System CBIS project conducted for the Integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing ICAM Program. This project Priority 3101 defined the requirements of a computer network that would integrate the functions of aerospace batch manufacturing. This Final Report is presented in four volumes. This part, Volume 4, is a State-of-the-Art Document, which describes technologies such as distributed processing, database management, and transaction processing thought to be relevant to a future CBIS. The other volumes are a Summary and Overview Vol. 1, a System Requirements Document Vol, 2, and a System Environment Document Vol. 3.
