A sample of 24 items was selected to represent the large population of electronic items found in the home and office. These were exposed to airborne carbon fibers until malfunctions developed or until high exposure levels were reached. The resulting mean exposures to malfunction are to be used to estimate the hazards presented by carbon fibers accidentally released by civilian aircraft crashes.
