A study has been undertaken founded on the response discrepancies of the Wing V Minuteman missile complex to the 28 March 1975 Pocatello Valley earthquake. Seismic stations were established in contrasting geological areas containing Wing V siloed missile installations for the purpose of assessing motion transfer characteristics. Areal seismic risk determinations are made for Cheyenne, Wyoming. Comparative characteristic seismic source considerations are presented for the Pocatello Valley event and the 30 June 1975 Yellowstone earthquake as a function of Wing V azimuth. It is suggested that a source-site mechanism relation is necessary in order to explain the selective Wing V effects of the Pocatello earthquake. Author
