Abstract:

To quantify the effects of thermal lensing, an efficient computer program package was developed and programmed to run on a CDC6600 computer. The package was written to handle Gussian-shaped beams incident on either a thin disc- or annular-shaped cylindrical window. Three coupled programs make up the package TEMP5, which solves the full heat transport equation within the window for any given set of initial and boundary conditions on each surface TIKIRK, which solves the vector Kirchhoff diffraction integrals for the beam transmitted to the far field and DISPLAY, which plots these temperatures andor intensities in a variety of ways, including three-dimensional perspective views.
