Wind tunnel tests were conducted in the Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel 4T to investigate the separation characteristics of the MK-82 Air Inflatable Retarder AIR when released from BRU-3AA racks mounted on various pylon stations of the F-111 aircraft. Trajectory data were acquired at Mach numbers from 0.7 to 1.25 for simulated altitudes of 1,000 and 15,000 ft. All stores separated without store-to-aircraft contact. However, one release condition resulted in the stores passing very close to the underside of the F-111 wing.
