Abstract:

Chromium-iron alloy deposits, containing 94 chromium and 6 iron, have been plated on short sections of 3 gun-tube liners from a standard formulation chrome-alum type bath. At 400 amp.sq. ft., the alloy was deposited on the lands at about 0,010 in. thickness per hour, but only about 110 as much plate was deposited on the land walls. A high throwing power bath formulation which give a more uniform coverage of the alloy deposit at lower current densities is reported.
