Abstract:

The attached environmental assessment EA and environmental baseline survey EBS analyzes the potential environmental impacts associated with the establishment of a new drop zone near Cadiz, Ohio. Associated with this Proposed Action is a Finding of No Significant Impact FONSI. The Proposed Action would entail leasing approximately 430 acres of privately-owned property on a reclaimed strip mine for use by the 911 th Airlift Wing A W stationed at Pittsburgh International Airport lAP Air Reserve Station ARS. The No-Action Alternative would be to not lease the property, and continue using existing drop zone facilities. The resources analyzed for environmental impact are land use, airspace management, noise, air quality, safety and occupational health, hazardous materials and hazardous waste, earth resources, water resources, biological resources, cultural resources, socioeconomics, environmental justice, recreation and visual resources, and transportation. No potential significant impacts to any of these resources were identified.
