Abstract:

This volume br1efly describes existing conditions physical, social, economic affecting electric supply and demand in the states of Alaska and Hawaii. It discusses the existing electric energy system and the role of hydropower therein. Projections of electrical supply and demand through the year 2000 are discussed. The hydropower resources, developed and undeveloped, of the region are evaluated and a regional ranking of specific projects and sites which are recommended to be studied in further detail is presented. The public involvement 1n the planning process is described.
