Abstract:

Our long-term goal is to improve methods for estimating zooplankton biomass by species and lifestage as a function of three-dimensional location and time. The objective of this research program is to integrate sophisticated acoustic scattering models of zooplankton with mathematical inverse theory to develop advanced broadband and multiple-frequency methods that produce rapid and accurate results from bioacoustical field studies in a form that can be understood and trusted by biological oceanographers.
