Abstract:
The U.S. Air Force prepared this Environmental Assessment to assess the potential environmental effects that would result from constructing a 1-mile extension to the existing Gravel Road Training Course. The purpose of the Gravel Road Training Course is to provide a realistic driving range to train Airmen in driving safely in challenging conditions that match those throughout the Missile Complex, a 13,800-square-mile area in central Montana. The proposed course addition would include features present in the Missile Complex, such as different road surfaces, cattle guards, and switchbacks. The existing training course does not include these features. The No Action Alternative considers continued use of the existing training course.
