The long-term goal of this program is to quantify, understand and predict acoustic backscatter from fish aggregations. Objectives of this project include quantifying the relative importance of biological and physical factors that influence backscatter from fish aggregations comparing acoustic technologies used to assess fish abundance and to acoustically quantify size distributions, abundances, and behaviors of fish.
