Abstract:

Our long-term goal is a quantitative, mechanistic and predictive understanding of the dynamics of bubbles and bubble populations in marine sediments. We believe that this information can be used to improve and test acoustic backscatter models for sediments and to better understand the ebullitive flux of me thane, an important greenhouse gas , to the atmosphere.
