Abstract:

The main goals for the work were a theoretical extraction of microresonator design parameters and specifications enabling the generation of Kerr combs in the mid-infrared mid-IR wavelength region and b demonstration of a mid-IR Kerr comb obtained by pumping a whispering gallery mode microresonator with a 4.5um quantum cascade laser QCL, which amounts to the longest-wavelength Kerr comb to date and first to access the molecular fingerprint region of the optical spectrum, a critical enabler for a wide range of new military and civilian chemobio sensing applications.
