This report presents a new approach for using high-speed craft acceleration data to quantify the amplitude and duration of a wave impact load. Peak acceleration, impact duration, and the change in velocity for individual wave impacts are shown to be important parameters. The approach may be used for any naval architecture or marine engineering investigation of wave impact effects on hull structure, shock mitigating seats, equipment systems, or human comfort and performance. It applies to full-scale and model-scale data.
