Abstract:

We report the purification of methyl phthalyl ethyl glycolate MPEG by flash column chromatography ca. grams, allowing us to establish an analytically pure standard using EA, KF, GC, and GC-MS analyses. The purified MPEG was fully characterized using H1 and C13 NMR, IR, UV-Vis, bp, and HRMS analyses. Using this standard, routine GC analysis can be performed to determine the purity with a high degree of confidence of various lots of MPEG, improving the quality control for formulations containing MPEG.
