Main Crane Towing Coring Crutch The crutch assembly being provided by Allied Systems needs to be demonstrated to prove that it can be used in a safe and practical way. Side CTD Handling Systems DCI has positioned the crane s stowage crutch and the after fairlead sheave foundation. The aft fairlead foundation was move back to its original location. To provide the for the necessary wire clearance, the crane s telescopic boom must also be extended approximately 19-inches. The aft fairleads foundation has been shortened to allow the winch wire to clear the crane s jib boom. Issues still remain as there may still be interferences when using the alternate handling device for each winch. On Armstrong, sliding watertight doors were commissioned and their operation was successfully demonstrated to USCG and ABS. The all of the doors worked smoothly with no discrepancies.
