The overall goal of this research is to analyze influence of plasma turbulence on hypersonic sensor systems and NGOTHR applications and to meet the Air Forces ever-increasing demand for reduced cost, size, weight, and power CSWAP while maintaining or increasing system functionality. This basic research effort consists of several sub-tasks that use experiments, analytical and numerical methods to examine linear and nonlinear stages of instabilities of plasma flow with velocity shear. Refraction and scattering of high frequency electromagnetic waves on nonlinear vortex structures produced in the process of instability development will be analyzed as well.
