Identification of Genes and Genetic Variants Associated with Poor Treatment Response in Patients with Prostate Cancer

We have created an informative set of high risk lethal prostate cancer pedigrees and recurrent prostate cancer cases. Linkage analysis has identified significant evidence for linkage several chromosomes these findings will be followed with sequence analysis. We have begun sequence analysis and identified a set of candidate genes in a set of 6 pairs of lethal prostate cancer cases sequenced. We have begun GWAS analysis on our set of deeply phenotypes recurrent cases and have identified some significant findings. Manuscript preparation is underway. Identification of genes predisposing to recurrentlethal prostate cancer from this study will validate this powerful approach, which can be extended to other high risk prostate cancer pedigrees, and will identify genes and pathways that can be further examined to expand our knowledge of prostate cancer genetics.
