Abstract:

We use the first station of the Long Wavelength Array LWA1 to observe low power echoes from meteors due to illumination of meteor trails from TV or VHF radar. We built and deployed 5 Data Recorder Storage Units DRSUs at LWA1 and use these to collect data from the LWA1. We have collected both LWA1 beam observations and Transient Buffer Narrowband TBN data which is an all-dipole mode. Both of these modes have extremely high data rates up to 360 GBhour in the case of TBN mode. This original objective was to characterize three-dimensional neutral wind patterns in 90-120 km altitude.
