The objective of this project is to develop high birefringence Delta n, large dielectric anisotropy Delta epsilon, and low-loss polar nematic liquid crystal compounds and mixtures for infrared applications, especially in the MWIR spectral region. The performance goals are n0.2 at-4, 5 at 1 kHz, and absorption coefficient 5cm.
