Abstract:

This grant is primarily concerned with the development of new methods in nondestructive testing through the use of the theory of transmission eigenvalues. This investigation also includes an effort to extend the linear sampling method to the time domain in order to handle limited aperture data. The main accomplishments during the period of this report were 1. The derivation of new methods in nondestructive testing using the theory of transmission eigenvalues. 2. The introduction and investigation of a new class of inverse scattering problems that arise when sources and measurements are situated in the interior of a cavity. 3. The extension of the linear sampling method from the frequency domain to the time domain for penetrable inhomogeneous media.
