This report describes the data collection, methodology and analysis conducted by Sky Research for the LiDAR and digital orthophotography high airborne sensor technologies demonstrated at Borrego Maneuver Area BMA in California. LiDAR data are critical to the overall WAA process in several roles creation of an accurate high-resolution bare earth digital elevation model DEM for ortho-correction of all other remote-sensing datasets extraction of possible surface munitions related features and for base mapping layers for site visualization, planning and analysis. Orthophotography is valuable for direct detection and visualization of possible munitions related features as input to multiple-sensor fusion algorithms for surface feature detection and for site visualization and planning. Data processing and analysis of the collected data sets resulted in the detection of target areas and range infrastructure features at the site. The performance assessment results show that while most features can be detected in the datasets, erosion and wind can obscure features over time.
