Abstract:

Mexico is facing a crisis of monumental proportions. An evolving drug war, driven by U.S. demand, dominates the Mexican landscape and increasingly terrorizes the daily life of its inhabitants. The war engages the Mexican government, executing a relatively new anti-drug policy, against powerful drug trafficking organizations, which are fighting amongst themselves for territory and resources at previously unseen levels. The conflict is evolving in scope and scale and spillover incidents are moving across Mexicos northern border into the United States with greater intensity.
