This paper examines Native Americans contributions to the military. Common stereotypes plague Native Americans, particularly through Hollywood, which fails to portray their actions justly for the American public. People continue to hold onto images of a vanishing race, a noble savage, andor a bloodthirsty killer when they think of the American Indian warrior. This paper identifies some obstacles Indians face while serving in the United States military, and further defines why they continue to serve in such high numbers.
