Nellis AFB proposes to initiate updates to the 2008 CIP that would include construction, demolition, renovation, and maintenance activities at the base. By taking a comprehensive approach to planning and implementing facilities and infrastructure improvements over a multi-year period, Nellis AFB would ensure that limited funds, energy conservation, and operational goals are maximized. The CIP contains hundreds of projects, however funding for all of the projects to be completed in the next 5 years is not feasible because of the limited amount of funds available. These funding limitations are due to worldwide deployments and contingency operations competing funding requests from other military installations new missions such as the F-35A beddown and general budget reductions for civil engineering projects. As a result, only a small percentage of the projects can be funded within one fiscal year. This Final EA analyzes the potential environmental consequences of the proposed CIP update at Nellis AFB and includes analysis of the no-action alternative.
