Abstract:

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, speaking at Marinette Marine Corporation in September 2013, said, The cost of the 10th LCS Littoral Combat Ship out of here is going to be about half of the first, and what that means is that you are doing your job really well. He went on to say that he s going to do everything he can to protect Navy shipbuilding and make sure we get the ships the Navy needs. His words underscore the vital work being done by the Navy ManTech Program to improve the affordability of naval platforms critical to the future force. This report outlines the current efforts of the Navy Metalworking Center NMC, a Navy Manufacturing Technology Center of Excellence, which is singularly focused on transitioning project results that reduce costs for Navy weapon systems within its areas of expertise.
