Abstract:

The goal of this research was to carry out a theoretical study of the generation and control of quantum-degenerate molecular systems, including but not limited to dipolar molecules. Major directions includde a the controlled association of diatomic as well as more complex ultracold heteronuclear molecules, such as molecular trimers, into deeply bound states b the study of the coherent dynamics and quantum control of elementary chemical reactions such as for instance the displacement reaction A B2 - AB B the study of the ground state and dynamics of quantum degenerate dipolar gases, in particular dipolar condensates and d the detection, manipulation and quantum control of condensates using quantum detectors such as ultracold micro- and nano-scale cantilevers, and conversely the manipulation and control of nano-scale cantilevers by ultracold atomic and molecular systems.
