Abstract:

This report details the authors research plan for probing captured documents at the Conflict Records Research Center CRRC regarding Saddam Husseins chemical weapons. The report reviews how the sought-after information will contribute to new insights into the Iraqi chemical weapon program during Saddams tenure with respect to use doctrine, actual use, human resources applied to development and manufacture of CW, and the role of supplies from developing countries in supporting this program. In addition, the report highlights the status of the captured documents availability at the CRRC, including the status of some 9,000 translated but not released documents among which a significant number of documents discuss the above subjects. The author proposes that research by a cleared investigator be undertaken among the translated, but still classified documents to identify those whose vetting and release would make the greatest contribution to on-going scholarly studies.
