Abstract:
The Training Range Environmental Evaluation and Characterization System TREECStrademark is being developed for the Army with varying levels of capability to forecast the fate of and risk from munitions constituents MC, such as high explosives HE, within and transported from firingtraining ranges to surface water and groundwater. The overall objective is to provide environmental specialists with tools to assess the potential for migration of MC into surface water and groundwater systems and to assess range management strategies to protect human and environmental health. TREECStrademark can also be used to assess best management strategies BMPs for ranges to avoid, reduce, and remediate MC migration to receiving waters. This report describes how TREECStrademark can be used to assess range BMPs. New TREECStrademark modules are being developed to address some of the BMP assessments. The formulation, testing, and TREECStrademark implementation strategies of these new modules are also presented in this report.
