Abstract:

Soluble substrate has been used at hundreds of sites to generate anaerobic conditions and enhance in situ anaerobic biodegradation immobilization of chlorinated solvents, perchlorate, explosives, nitrate and chromium. Typically, the soluble substrate is diluted with water and then injected using a series of wells. In some cases, a pH buffer or other amendment may be included to further enhance biodegradation.
