Abstract:
Testimony regarding the historical experience of building Iraqi security forces and its applicability to current efforts build Afghan security forces as U.S. efforts in that country draw down. Testimony begins by providing a brief overview of security force development in Iraq, then discuss some of the parallels and differences between the two countries and the two efforts. Testimony concludes with some thoughts on what the experience in Iraq and elsewhere can and cannot teach us for Afghanistan.
