Abstract:
Preliminary data analysis was performed on automotive alternators in common use in Army vehicles. This effort was an investigation on the feasibility of early fault detection using data analysis techniques. Using data acquired on a common military vehicle alternator, several analysis methods were employed to arrive at features expected to indicate anomalous behavior. This specific data analysis task supports the broader objective to investigate the feasibility of real-time condition monitoring and failure mode diagnostics in Army systems.
